I have a few 'spare' birds and haven't a clue where or how to sell them.
Any advice would be very welcome

You can check with local pet shops, sometimes they will purchase birds (not the big chains like Petsmart). You can advertise on craigslist, hoobly, kijiji, but be very careful here. You should meet prospective buyers in a public place just for safety's sake. Never give away birds on places like craigslist, as snake owners are always happy to find free food for their pets.
If you put your general location in your profile, you may even find a buyer here on the forum. You can post in the Marketplace, but we don't recommend posting your personal contact information. There are some places to advertise on Facebook, but again it would depend on where you live.

Yeah.....local pet shop said she would give me 25.00 for all four birds.
I have a male red faced parrot finch, a female cordon bleu and a pair of orange cheeks.
I felt very angry and insulted and declined her lowball offer.

That is an insulting offer, I have to agree.
Just out of curiosity, how much does the Pet Shop charge for these species?

I agree that $25 for those 4 birds is pretty insulting. You will never get full price from a pet shop, they mostly pay quite low, but around here, I think most of them would have given that for 4 Zebras or 4 Societies, so 3 waxbills and a parrot finch should definitely bring more, even from a pet shop.
