I would attempt feeding any chick who is not being fed, Gary (be it a Zebra, or a blue Gouldian ). I think they all deserve an equal chance, and all want to live.

Yes, but sometimes one does have to make a choice. Feeding every 2 hours at night is tough for a senior citizen. I have to choose my battles, and where to expend that huge amount of energy. I did it a few times, and as others have said, it was TOUGH, and I was very worn out after just 5 days of that.

It was much easier and doable when the chicks were older and I could feed with a pipette and did not have to feed every 2 hours at night.

Incredible job! I'm so impressed!!!! =D> =D> =D>

You mentioned using a pipette for feeding. What did you use for the brooder?

Elana, "Tiny" is the the little demon baby. hahaha Thats the one that had to be force fed and laid on his back for days. Up until maybe day (5-6?) I would open the lid and talk to them to wake them up (when they were still blind)...Hercules, the bigger one would beg normally and Tiny would have this seizure-spasm reaction. He would randomly twitch himself all over the bottom of the brooder.

Now he's the strongest begger and very alert (thank goodness)

Bill and I were convinced he was going to be "ridin' the short bus to school" if you know what I mean. ;)

Jen, I am using Sally's exact method of using a baby wipe warmer as a brooder. There is a thread someone maybe could link, but Im ab out to start work in a few. (Sally your brooder method has worked flawlessly BTW). I used the Babies-R-Us generic brand baby wipe warmer. About $25

Later Ill talk a bit about maintaining temp in it.

This is quite a feat!!! Proud of you, this is tough! They are goulds Just saw the Nodules. and assumed. Can't wait to see them feather up! I was totally thinking they looked like ants in the pic back there too!!! Did you say you had neck bands for them? Good luck, hope they are still doing well!

Elana, this one is for you. This is my view while I am working. Looks like someone is hungry. You can see the little whack-a-mole jumping up and down in the corner of the brooder getting pretty bossy. Makes me giggle every time.
