Re: cageworld.com - any bought from them?
I saw this online at Petco. (See picture below)
$299
Unfortunately they don't give any sizes (nor weight)
Has in Black or Platinum
In the city I used to live in I bought my pets mainly from Petco. They were the best for animals.
But they don't have a store in my new town.
I've never ordred from them online.
They do seem pretty expensive, tho this cage is nice at this sale price.
Too expensive for now and may be too big for dealing with trays and weight even with wheels but this would be my ideal for my birds.
(My last home had 7.9 foot ceiling, my new place has 9'. I'm surprised at how much I notice and appreciate the extra height. And I'm short at 5'3" )
I once had a pair of zebra finches in a 30-18-18 cage and the male especially didn't fly much at all. Then I got them a 30-18-30 and the male just flew and flew.
Even when I moved them temporarily once in a cage 24-16-23 they flew more then in the 30-18-18, they jst sat most of the time in the cage with the shorter ceiling, esp the male. Who wants a ceiling right next to their heads, much less when flying around.
I feel bad not giving my birds the bigger cage but I'm sure it is much heavier and would be hard for me to manage the trays and grills. Plus double the price too.
I used the cage size link I found in another post and put in the cage size of my new cage that is coming.
http://www.finchinfo.com/housing/cage_s ... ulator.php
It gave it 2-3 birds.
It gave my current largest cage 1-2 birds.
So I think it best to put 4 society finches in new cage, (current 3 females plus get one more for fawn colored that is often left out by 2 black and white ones)
I wish calculator considered height even tho length is most important.
Down the road maybe can get the one below and upgrade the society female finches to it and give this new cage to Squeaky and Whitey.
None of my current cages have dividers. Looking forward to new one with divider.
The cage below is almost like an aviary, but with the great benefit of Divider for cleaning, could make branches/perches more tree like.
I guess with birds especially no cage will ever seem big enough for them since birds aren't held down to just the earth but have the sky as well as their normal space.

I have some of this style cage, and I love them. They are a little over 5' long, so nice flying space. When I need to catch a bird or two, I put in the divider. The trays are plastic, so not too heavy, though a little cumbersome. Keep your eyes out for sales on this cage, you will find some once in a while. HQ and A&E both have them, they are pretty much the same cage (I'm sure one factory in China makes all these cages, just puts different company tags on them).

Sally - thank you
I ordered the cage yesterday
On a different subject: why does it say I have no new message when there was a new response on my question? I don't know many times that a new response has been made on one of my questions.

If you go to your Use Control Panel (top of page menu), you can set up your preferences. You can be notified of PMs, or likes, or mentions.zebsoc wrote: On a different subject: why does it say I have no new message when there was a new response on my question? Re: cageworld.com - any bought from them?
I have that Prevue cage only without the stand, and I absolutely LOVE it. It is my go-too cage for those situations where you simply don't have the space to stick two of the Prevue F050s in tandem, LOL!
I have had no problem with escape attempts, but if you fear the front door, the side doors give good access as well.
Because I do not position any perches or seed cups near the centermost section of the cage, I have had no mess around the center bottom runners. I've had the cage for a good several months now - going on 8 or 9 I think. I've only had to wash out the trays around the edges where I seldom actually get 100% cage bottom coverage with the liner paper, LOL!
The divider makes cleaning a breeze. I simply invite my guys into one side of the cage - a stern look is usually sufficient - slide the divider in and take the tray on that side out to clean it. Slide the divider back, invite them into the other side, and repeat.
The cups that come with it are stupidly ginormous so I don't use those or the doors they're supposed to fit into either.
I use a large silo feeder for their staple diet and small thumb and finger cups for most of their treats, also what they call a "biscuit cup" which is very shallow so does not build up a layer of hulls. They eat it, you dump it. I've found providing seed in a shallow layer like that results in much less throwing of seed around and very little waste.
They've got a water silo as well.
I absolutely love this cage, and because my pair will likely always be by themselves (it's been long enough by now that I strongly suspect Bambi's tail is never going to grow back), I will likely make them a longer flight path by removing the wire panels at adjoining ends to stick 2 of them together. There are just the 4 welds on each panel, then the panel will slip out of the frame and you can just ziptie the 2 together.
Otherwise I'm going with 2 F050s pretty soon, once I'm moved and settled and start adopting rescue birds with a will, LOL!
I am limiting myself to one double-cage of rescued budgies, and one of finches. OK, maybe 2 of finches. But mostly its the squawky annoying parakeets that get dumped around here. Apparently they are the #1 abandoned bird in the USA.

Turn towards home, and go there. Many overs, over woods and fields, streams and hills, many overs. Just turn towards home. How else would one go there? Perhaps it was a dream, and you have awakened from it. May the earth rise up beneath you, with home in your heart, and your person waiting.

Re: cageworld.com - any bought from them?
Sojourner thank you for the great info on the cage. Its reassuring that escapes shouldn't be a problem.
I like your idea of the biscuit cup to reduce seed waste.
Good idea too on not having the seed near the center so it doesn't get a lot of poop in that area.
Cage is due to come this week, can't wait for it to arrive and have it put together so I can see my birds flying around enjoying it.
Plus the ability to divide it for cleaning.
I miss not having parakeets, tho I like my finches.
So easy, and fun, to pick out toys for them to play with.
But now that I live in an apartment, the neighbors certainly wouldn't care for the noise they can make unfortunately.

Re: cageworld.com - any bought from them?
I just bought a 3-pack of 18x30x36 black cages from them. $150 for the three shipped. They are put together as doubles and came out real well. More of a flimsy cage, but with added zip ties and such I'm very happy with them!

Re: cageworld.com - any bought from them?
xz_zebs I have a critter nation which is intended for rats and ferrets and such, the doors are the entire width of the cage and so far the only escape I e had was when I was trying to catch a bird which actually made it easier because she landed on my bed
I love it because I can get my whole head and shoulders in if I need to in order to adjust things or whatever and the birds usually stay toward the back or in their nest. It enables the cage to be wider than most true bird cages, in addition to being quite long. I have society finches though which are fairly used to my presence after a few weeks and are of course domesticated so ymmv depending on species and other factors. If you wanted you could zip tie a couple together for a mega cage--i have seen rat owners with as many as four double critter nations together spanning the width of the room! I would not want to clean that for rats

Re: cageworld.com - any bought from them?
I did end up buying the cage from Petco
The one problem is the wheels r Super CHEAP.
They are the really cheapest wheels u can buy anywhere and the double cages r quite heavy. It is a dread to move to clean.
I bought a second one that was lighter weight and Much better and more appropriate wheels at a $100 less.
Sorry I bought the Petco one. Tho it was much easier to assemble and the door locks r much nicer and easier to manage with arthritic hands and the door locations r really nice too.
It's unfortunate they went with such Cheap flimsy plastic wheels that can't handle the weight.

I bet you can get "replacement" wheels of a better quality from Home Despot or the like, or online. Just depends on the size of the shaft where you attach them I would think.
If we're still talking about the Prevue F070/F075 - I have the cage without the stand so I don't know what those wheels are like but I bet you could find replacements.
But that looks like some other manufacturer. Do you know who makes it?

Re: cageworld.com - any bought from them?
The brand is HQ
I tried looking up wheels but found that there are Lots of different stem sizes and quite confusing as to how to tell what size. Esp since the stem itself is within the frame so can't see.
The cage is quite heavy and not something I can lift myself.
Would need two people and then difficult to take stem to a store because cage will not be stable and tilt.
I did try that with my smaller cage by Lowe's was no help and couldn't get help figuring out stem.
Would be a hit and miss.
Thought of getting a car jack to lift the cage up.
Big problem and hazzle just because of cheap wheels.
The Platinum turned out to be Dark Gray.
The other cage is a true Platinum.
I think it was an HQ also.
Online buying is certainly more difficult to know what getting.
I am still happy with both cages just the difficulty with moving the cage that is a regular struggle since birds do make a daily mess all over the floor.
If I had more room I could place it to have more room to move around it instead of near a wall.
It is Higher off the ground then the other so easier to vacuum under if I can get behind it without moving it.
Maybe in spring can try some rearranging of area.
The cages r a bit too big for my apartment but I like giving them as much room as possible to live in.
It's tempting at time to just move them to a small petstore cage for less mess and faster clean.
