Country life---internet of the dinosaurs

I may fade out into the vast horizon. I have made multiple attempts to post and upload some new pictures. All lost in cyberspace with our slow, unpredictable internet. We had no choices as only one company even services this area.
One of those bought experience things. We are less than 3 miles from the largest brand new Wal-Mart I have ever seen, it's not like we are remote. But it is what it is, internet here is ....well it mostly isn't.

I won't try to post pictures this time. I did want to say that I think I have become a juvie finch mom. Not quite full grown but have been figuring out some problems on my own. Blue has been pecked again. I caught Nellie red beaked. I rearranged the cages again. Blue and Meeps switched homes and today Blues cheeks are dry and healing. One of the socie sisters was sitting near him on a perch inviting friendship. Those 3 are just adorable birds. Hopefully the 4 of them can cohabitate well together. The bottom cage is an interesting mix. The socie pair, one cordon bleu hen, & one zebra.
They eat like pigs.
I'm serving up the salad bar with egg food, bird bread, some seed mix, and some millet sprays. Not everything every day for variety. They get their egg food every day. They look good they have all grown and are bigger than they used to be.
The CB'S are the same size. The others are young and probably had not reached their adult size. But we are figuring it out as we go. Romeo may be the loudest, socie singer ever. He has a pretty song which is a good thing.

Hope everyone is enjoying the spring! It's so beautiful here right now. Tons of work still to do.

I am sorry you have problems getting your pics posted due to internet drag. I suggest you move the zebra into the larger cage and separate the wounded finches, so they won't get picked on more. Zebras tend to be aggressive and CBs are docile. Society are friendly, but any finch can get bullied when they are sick or injured. Good luck with them !

The zebra did not do it. The 2 CB'S were alone together in their own cage. Nellie did it. The groupings right now seem to be fine. There are no nests so hopefully we can all relax and get used to living here. Thanks for commenting.

I'll merge these photos with your original topic. I understand about internet, though I am probably better off than you are. I live on the edge of a small town, though we are not really out in the country, not that far from Fort Worth. However, I live on a dead end street, and I've been told that we will probably never get high-speed phone lines on our street. I do have a hot spot from AT&T, so not too bad, but far from high speed. The other option is satellite, but I think the hot spot is faster. My brother lives quite far out from the city, and all he can get is satellite. Hopefully, one day soon technology will catch up for those of us not in populated areas.

I know what you mean about Internet problems.
Recently I've been struggling with problems as well. Very spotty Internet, on for a few minutes, off for a few minutes, some days ok, other days absolutely terrible.
Can't figure it out. I'm smack in the middle of a big city, and didn't have these problems before. It's the same provider as I've always had, and it's extremely frustrating. I've been considering phoning them to see what's going on, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Sorry to hear that poor old Blue got bloodied again. I think he's better off without our Nellie.

Sally thanks for the help. We are 3 miles from town but might as well be 300. Tried to reply to your nutrition comments a couple of times. I did read them! It's the middle of the night so the internet is working. I couldn't sleep.

Elana you are right. Blue is going to stay with the socie sisters. I don't know why I didn't think of it before? Totally henpecked. What do you think of my birdie feast? Aren't they fat little sausages? I don't know how people can go a week to clean cages. These birds POOP!

I love how sweet the socies are to others. Human beings could take a lesson.

Not sure how folks get by with a weekly cleaning.
My guys as well, poop enough to fertilize a farmers field.

Don't you just love it, when you've just cleaned the cage, washed the perches, wiped down the bars, replaced the greenery...... and you're standing back, all mussed up, and so proud of your accomplishments, your birds staring at you with their bright inscrutable little eyes, and then you hear a 'PLOP'.

Your gaze flashes around the cage, and there IT is, a fresh splat on the clean papers which you've just put in.

'Alright, WHO DID IT? ' You snarl between clenched teeth, and you'd swear these feathered demons are shrugging, and laughing at you behind their feathered wing tips, suddenly looking at everything else other than the disheveled sputtering human who has smoke coming out of her ears

What I really want to do Is catch them in the act of backing their little finchie butts up to the sides of the cage! I swear they say, " lock, load and fire"! How do they hit so many things on the outside of their humble dwellings?
The only criticism I have of birdie buffet salad bar and egg bread is the bombs away. Good night nurse it puts a whole new light on " POOP through a goose".
