Is this egg fertile or not?

Hi all,

My mother in law recently passed away and we have therefore taken on her two finches, one male and one female.

They have laid an egg but I've no idea what to look for to know if it is any good?

It is most definitely fertile, congratulations.

Hi, they are zebra finches. They laid it about five days ago and were sitting on it religiously but since yesterday they aren't going near it and it was going cold so I put it under a heat lamp.

I have no idea if I'm doing the right thing?!

yep its fertile, the red is starting to spread out.

Thank you, should I have left it in there if they weren't sitting on it? Or is it best under the heat lamp?
