Thanks Elana!
They're a responsibility, but worth every ounce of effort whenever they start squeaking and flapping their little wings in excitement whenever they see me now.

I've started to mix just a little bit of pureed vegetable or fruit baby food into some of their meals now for a bit of variety, along with a little egg yolk here and there, and they're doing great. During the day I feed as often as I can, whenever I see their crops empty, or at least every 2.5 hours. I'm going for 7 - 8 hours at night now and they don't seem to have any problem sleeping that time away as long as I give them a couple back-to-back meals a little closer together than normal once I get up.

Fantastic job Dylan! That are SUPER CUTE!! I know those long nights of no sleep. It has definitely =D> paid off for you!

I always did two back-to-back feedings in the morning too with the finches. They absorb that first morning feeding very quickly.

You're making me miss feeding baby birds (no eggs or babies at present ).
It gives you such a warm feeling, when they begin to really recognize you, ant give you such a warm and enthusiastic welcome.

I'm glad you're sleeping again.

From those pixs I finally understand what people mean about how cannaries beg vs. finches. The finches will sometimes lay down and turn their head up, not stand up and stretch for the sky. Rather neat to see this. Thanks for the pictures.

Ages 15 - 17 days: fledgelings! Or... hoplings?

@lovezebs babs Sally The little guys are venturing out of the nest and running all around their little box, peeping and pecking. Nobody's tested their new wings off the ground quite yet though, perhaps because their nest is on the floor.

The little ones are beginning to eat a much more varied diet. They love little broccoli florets, fruit and veggie baby foods of all flavors, and bits of boiled egg now in addition to their formula.
