Breeding over ...pretty large flight cage

Post by Babs _Owner » Mon Apr 25, 2016 8:09 am

Brats & Ricco's kids are weaned and in their own flight cage so I opened up the double flight cage by removing the divider. I added my other gouldian pair who have been renamed Koolaide and Lollipop as a promise I made to SocietyFinch the day she lost all her finches.

The two gouldian pairs should not be able to breed in this setup. And to make sure of it, I threw in my two society boys Penguin & KoJax to add some fun and mischief. Everyone seems to be getting along fine. I found some lovely branches in the yard, sterlized them and came up with this.

Made for a long cage cleaning day. Now the center piece of the livingroom, it is quite lovely to watch them fly in the larger open space.

Really nice setup, your birds will have a great vacation from breeding. I have a similar dish (with ceramic birds on side) that I just picked up at Tuesday Morning, and it will go in one of my double flights.

It looks great and I know the birds are going to love it. Isn't it nice to be able to take divider out making the most of the flight. :)

This only problem we had to fix was when we took the divider out it left a gap big enough for a finch to squeeze through, so Bill built a wooden frame to slide in to close the gap. From the side-view you can see the wood. Yes it is such a convience. I wish all my cages were double-flight.

Just chase those suckers to one side, close the divider, clean.

Hi Babs
Beautiful job. This means you found homes for the babies. Where is Hammie? Is she in here? You raised some lovely birds. This set up is great. I would love it.
I didn't realize how important space is until we moved. For now my birdies are on the porch. We have warm weather so hopefully they will like the humid heat.
Just think of the feasting they can do on bugs.....

Love your set up.
