Society breeding questions

Post by zebsoc » Mon May 02, 2016 1:23 am

Male society had short tail when bought. About 2 months ago. Tail now full grown.
How old is he likely to be now?
How old before can breed?

3 society females bought about 7 months ago.
2 sometimes like the bottom corner of cage. Haven't seen any eggs tho.

If I give them a nest - just 1 nest
Will they build nest but not likely have babies?

Will the male choose 1 or can all 3 females become fertile?

You supply the nest. Yes he will breed with all females. Within months you will have more societies than you will know what to do with LOL.

My suggestion is .............buy more cages. :))

The length of the tail isn't really a reliable indicator of age, as he could have just lost his tail through an accident or someone catching him up, and it is just growing back out again.

The tail didn't look damaged nor plucked when it was shorter.
Also he still looks a little smaller than the other finches.

Wish there was a way to tell age of my birds.
