I was wondering , after putting two gouldians together as a pair , how long does it take for them to bond and maybe even breed .
What are the signs too look for so that I know when they have bonded enough to be ready to breed , is it a matter of time or does the match up between the two matter as well .
My male gouldian is often displaying courtship behavior towards the female , she some times seems interested and sometimes not , does the male just have to keep on trying to get her attention or what?
Sometimes when the male stands close to her , she would start brushing her beak on the branch towards the male as if she was trying to tell him something.
I am still not that bright for gouldians , so any help would be appreciated , thank you!

Re: Gouldian finch bond time
Like humans, there IS 'chemistry,' or there is NO 'chemistry.'
It can be immediately after you put them together, and they go into the nest and mate. Or it could be months before they finally bond and mate. I've had both situations, and by months, it was 7 months before that pair finally mated.
The hen also has to be in the correct period to mate. As I understand it, when the beak is all colored, then she is in mating time.
Another problems is if you have other gouldians, and they can see each other, the hen may have selected her mate, and it may not be the male you paired her with. So she is not interested in the male that you paired her with. In which case, it could take months, first to break the bond that she had with the male that she selected, and then to make a bond with the make that you have her paired with.
So all I can say is ... patience.
Gouldians are not like zebras.
