How much sleep should Zebra Finches get?

Post by Ryan722 » Fri May 06, 2016 12:16 am

Hello there, I am new here and I was wondering how much sleep should adult zebra finches get. I have the lights off at around 9:30 PM and they wake up at 8 AM. I noticed sometimes they dont go to sleep, should I have a thin blanket over their cage?

I don't cover my cages, but then I have an awful lot of them, so it wouldn't be practical for me to do so. I do have birds in both my living room and dining room, in addition to the bird room, and those birds are exposed to a lot more commotion. The lights are on, the TV is on, I'm at the computer--they may wake up from time to time, start to sing, and then they go back to sleep. Your birds are getting more sleep than mine in the living/dining rooms, so I wouldn't worry about it.
