zebra finch holding leg out

Post by Trier » Mon May 23, 2016 11:56 am

i have a female zebra finch she's roughly 7/8 years old, yesterday i noticed she was not standing on her right leg, i have checked there's no wound, bruising, or anything caught around her leg, no obvious sign's of injury, i have put her in a smaller cage , smaller perches, i gave her zolcal-d in her water. today she is using her leg , able to grip the perch, but the leg appears extended outwards, shes eating and drinking as normal, any advice please and ty :(

She could have injured the leg without showing much in the way of signs of injury. The only thing I would add to what you are doing already is to put a heat lamp on one end of the cage, so she can sit in the warmth if she wants, yet get away from it if it becomes too warm. Heat is one of the best things we can offer a bird that is not feeling well.
