Green-headed Gouldian?

Post by Egret » Sun May 29, 2016 3:33 pm

Hi, All:
Well, I'm puzzled (again).
Still waiting on my first-ever clutch of Gouldian babies to start their head-molt so I know sexes and so forth. It's still pretty obvious that I have 1 blue-back and 3 green-backs. All breasts should be purple.
However... you know how the green-back babies usually are olive-green with greyish heads, and kind of buff-colored bellies? Well, one of my little green-backs does not have the greyish head. Its head is green, like its back. Does this indicate that it will have a different head-color? I've also noticed that its green (on the back and head) is more yellow-green than the other 2 babies' olive green. His belly color is also more yellow than theirs. It's almost as if his back, head, and belly are all overlaid with a slight yellow filter, as compared to the other 2.
Ideas?
Thanks,
Rebecca

I'll try to get a picture of the babies.
The parents are RH green-backs; hen has PB, cock has WB. They are obviously both split to blue, since one baby is blue. That's all I know, which is more than their breeders knew. They were both colony bred, so who knows.

My first time to try and post a photo, and I'm pretty tech-challenged. I don't see a way to browse my hard-drive to upload the photo. Only a form in which I need a link to the photo. Does this mean I need to open an account with one of the photo-sharing sites to post them here?

From the pair you should only get RH.PB/WB.Green, RH.PB/WB.Green/Blue and RH.PB/WB.Blue

Probably just different tint of color. It's amazing how many different hues you can get, they rarely are exactly the same.
