Male Canary REALLY Loud
I recently adopted a male canary. The lady I adopted him from said he was too loud for her but I foolishly did not listen to him before I brought him home. I had him in a large cage with my society finches but moved him to his own large cage because the finches had babies. He has lots of toys, a big mirror, swing etc. The problem is he is so loud it hurts our ears. He sounds like an ambulance. But he is very sweet. I have heard that getting a female could help him to quiet down, I am happy to do that if it would help. Any suggestions?

No image on my screen.
I doubt that a girl will tone him down. It might encourage him to show off even more.
Put an ad on craigslist or some other site with a really low price or as a trade for another canary and he will be rehomed in no time.

I could rehome him or give him to someone I know who has an aviary it's just that when he is quiet he is really sweet and attentive and good with the other birds. Just wish I could quiet him down somehow
I will try and repost later He's very pretty

Re: Male Canary REALLY Loud
Green singers are loud. I have 8 and this time of year the males seem to be singing for their own enjoyment rather than singing to a potential mate. Is this what yours looks like? The hens have a necklace of brown dots.
To post pics here I usually have to reduce the size first. On my MAC you can adjust the size under "tools". Then move the smaller size saved pic to the desk top before attaching it with the "Browse" button. . Once attached you need to use the "add file" button. You can then choose to add the pic in line or at the end of your post if you want.

Re: Male Canary REALLY Loud
I tried to upload a picture again but I am not sure if its working. He looks very similar to your picture but his coloring seems more green than yours, and he has a bit more dark on him And he is the size of a canary not the smaller likes my finches. Would that make him a Green Singer?Paul's Amazing Birds wrote: Green singers are loud. Re: Male Canary REALLY Loud
Vera I had a waterslager canary once and he sounded like a car alarm and sang really loud and sang all the time! I had to sell him because I got migraines from the singing and I had another male (more soft singing) and only one female. He sounded a lot like this https://youtu.be/3LJmCGBoG1s on the highest volume
ha had a lot of the flute sounds (=car alarm).
My parisian frill I have now can sing really loud an a lot but it's a much more soft and pleasant song.

Thanks.n. He sounds similar to that but doesn't look like that but much louder. I'd hate to sell him because whoever had him next would likely have the same issue That's how I got him I would hate to see him get moved around and around. Did the picture work?
