How do I hand tame zebra finches?

Post by platypus777 » Wed Jun 15, 2016 1:02 pm

I have two zebras, they're pretty young, but just tried to lay their first clutch (totally failed lol), so I'm guessing they're close to about 9 months old, and I just want them to love me and let me hold them and take them out of their cage to sit on my shoulder and stuff!! How do I do it?? The only help I can find is 11 year olds on youtube just showing off how their finches are already tame.... How do I start? How can I get them to be comfortable with me? How long does it usually take? Or are they too old to tame?

It is difficult to tame finches unless you start when they are still babies. Many of the finches that have been tamed were hand fed by their owners, so that they had total trust in them.

Welcome to the forum! There's lots of good reading at www.finchinfo.com, where you will find many articles on finch care. If you put your general location in your profile, it makes it easier for other members to answer your questions.
