Hammy time!! Hand tame gouldian update

Post by Babs _Owner » Thu Jun 16, 2016 8:43 pm

Hammy has fully molted and gotten her big bird feathers. My only tame finch having a good time hamming-it-up!
Hugs from Hammy to you!

Babs, that was a fun video to watch. That's wonderful that your Hammy is so tame. My current flock of finches is no where near being hand tame. It's difficult to get close enough for a pic.

That is really special that she just decided to be a tame finch!

That's very cute, I've been sad lately as my very tame canary recently and very suddenly became aloof and flighty like the rest of his siblings and is not finger-tame anymore.

Oh no Dylan! I thought for sure that canary was going to stay that way. It seems they just revert back almost always after weaning.

Hammy, I cant explain her. I can put her in a flight with a bunch of the flighty birds and she still wants my attention. If Im in the room walking around looking/servicing cages, she clings to the side of the cage until I come and give her some love.

I don't think she will be able to breed. She would leave her eggs to get some hand-time.

I don't know what happened, he was my best friend until just this week. The other siblings went wild progressively as soon as they were weaned. I guess I just didn't give him enough one on one time lately.

I wouldn't risk breeding her. Its so great to have her imprinted on you!

Sheather

I understand completely. All my other hand tamed went completely wild.

@Spreckles Yep you are right, I don't think she is breedable. :( Would love her to pass her trait to offspring but she would want humans more than eggs.
