Bought my first Black-bellied Firefinch
Today I went to my first ever Birdmart at the Pomona Fairplex! I literally said I wasn't going to get anything!
So I came home with my first ever firefinch!
Red and black being my favorite colors! This black bellied firefinch is with my society finches I hope they get along! So if anyone can tell me more about this type of finch would be gladly appreciated! I read they aren't social nor aggressive.
I really wanted a pair of cordon Bleu finches (I'll post a pic) I didn't realize how small they were til I seen them in person! The bird mart had all kinds of finches! It was awesone! I loved it! I really wanted a different color of society finches! Like the almost all white or cream finches. They had the euro chocolate self society finch! I found that one after I had purchased my firefinch! But I was very glad I get the chance to see one in person.
But here is a picture of the firefinch and cordon Bleu finches if I find out how to post them if not go on my dog''s Instagram acct. Just search by sypherthebeagle that''s sypher the beagle one word and I'll be posting them there soon enough!

Nice one mate,
Can't actually see any fire finch in yer pic
Fire finches are no trouble to keep, they get on with most finches of similar size, a very good no hassle beginners bird and quite hardy

Rats, I missed posting the Pomona mart on the calendar!
I haven't had Black-bellied Fires, but have had quite a few Red-billed Fires, and I find them to be very easy waxbills to keep. They love to bathe, and mine also love fresh egg food and various veggies.

Sally yeah I think they have another one in November 27th I hope I can go and get Blaze a mate. I've read so much on line. They can be hard to breed . But sadly very few videos on YouTube for black bellied firefinch.

Yea your right about not being particularly easy to breed, but actually keeping em is a doddle,
To breed em a small in or out side avairy would be suitable with just the one pair in it, supply their normal hard seed diet along with some soak seed, egg food + some grated / liquidised carrot and broccoli mixed in with the egg food.
Youl also need a supply of small live food in the form of squats, pinkies, mini meal worms + green, black and fruit fly as they predominantly rear their young for the first few weeks on this

Stuart whiting thanks I really really would love to breed them and have the experience of seeing them grow.
