sexing seagreen parrot finch and care ??

hello friends, can any of the parrot finch experts guide me on most reliable way to sex the seagreen parrot finch apart from male singing thing, and how to care for them and condition these birds for breeding thank you

The Seagreen cock has a much darker yellow head than the hen. It is almost a mustard colour. I give mine eggfood, mealworms, corn on the cob, overripe apples and pears and sprouted seeds.

Marius, thankyou very much. some say its difficult to breed these red throat or sea green, how do you feel breeding these compared to other finches like gouldians and diamond fire tails, can they be bred in 3ft cages, and any other diet to be followed,and since its a hardy bird can we use foster parents to raise the chicks

sharath1 I breed mine in large aviaries, but another member, Smurf breeds his in breeding cages. I don't use foster parents, because I believe parent raised birds are the best. The parrotfinches are good parents.

sharath1 Only the red faced ones. Most hens don't have red on the vent. It is much easier to sex them by the colour around the eye. On a cock the red extends around the eye and on a hen the colour has a break in it.
