I have it narrowed down to spice finches, shaft tail finches or possible society. I bought a 32 x 21 x 60 cage and was planning on keeping one pair, possible two, depending on the species. I don't plan to breed. I've been leaning toward the shaft tail finch and my question is if I wind up with two males would they likely be combative in the absence of a female?
I kept finches many years ago. I used to have goldfinches, cutthroats and a pair of green singer finches. I'd really like to have a pair of green singers again but have not been able to find them. I live in AZ but frequently go to southern California if anyone knows where I could find them

The Finch Farm carries many varities you have to pay shipping. That's a great cage! Sounds like any of those would be fine with no females. And no nests. Socies are happy little clowns. Green singers are so pretty. There is a lot of info here.Welcome to the forum.

Angiern
I was just recently went to the Birdmart event in Pomona ca and paid with visa and this charged comes from scotsdale Az. So I think these ppl that came to Pomona came from Az to this Event so I think you could find them in AZ. But that's all the info I have. I know there will be another event in pomona at the fairplex grounds on Nov. 27 of this year 2016.
They have all kinds of finches.

Where are you in Az?
That Az seller could be: https://birdproduct.com/product-categor ... -waxbills/
He has a lot of birds in aviaries in north Phoenix and does go to the big shows.
Societies are common and inexpensive. Check ebayclassifieds.com. There are some nice ones in Chandler.

Welcome to the forum! As you've already been told, you have a bird dealer in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, and he may have whatever you are looking for. There's lots of good reading at www.finchinfo.com, where you will find many articles on finch care. If you put your general location in your profile, it helps later on when you need locale-specific answers.
