Keep in mind that your perception of loud is likely a combination of your good hearing plus the room acoustics that he's in. Another person in a different setting may find that desirable.
I had a waterslager that had a pleasant but very soft, low pitched song. Too quiet for my liking. I sold him and got a Spanish timbrado whose much louder, more exuberant singing appeals more to me.

I agree. I had a Green Singer/canary hybrid, and he was VERY loud. However, his song was so incredibly beautiful that I loved it (plus my hearing is going with age). Others may not have found it pleasant at all.

I suspect he's a green singer/canary hybrid from what I can tell.

This is definately not a Green Singer. He would probably be best placed in a large outdoor aviary where he can fill the garden with his songs every day.

Yes your pic came through. Blue band, dark color bird, no yellow like green singers have so prob not a mutation.

What kind of bird do you think he is? I do have a friend with an outdoor aviary he could go there I suppose.

So I had two opportunities to rehome my loud canary, a pet store that had a lovely large aviary where he could live, and a home that was looking for a canary. Both times I was ready to take him and just couldnt do it. He is just too darn cute and happy swinging and singing away so he will be staying here for life. And wouldnt you know we are getting used to his singing now too.

boy do they ever. he is such a dear. I was only going to have finches ...this guy was given to me because his original owner didn't want him because of how loud he was. He is such a darling and so happy and friendly

No wander your bird is loud,

When you said a green singer finch, I thought well as much as they are a lovely singer I definitely wouldn't rate them as being loud

Your bird is a non colour fed new colour canary, theses birds have some serious power to there voices as after all they are related to the German Herts mountain roller canaries,

The only other powerful songsters of the bird world are softbills IE nightingale, black caps, robin chats, bower birds, bell birds and thrushes, along with a few others etc

Oh thank you so much! I have been trying to look at pictures and figure out what kind of bird he was - that is so helpful.
