Hatch day.

Post by kyle » Fri Jul 29, 2016 8:29 pm

Hi all. Well today is day 16 of brooding. My gouldian chicks should hatch. They have been very diligent about sitting on the eggs but the last two days both the male and female have been in the nest box almost constantly with the exception of getting a bite to eat and drink. This will be the second time I've had chicks but from a different pair. I have never had a male Gouldian take such an interest he is almost been as hands on as she has. I've placed the nest box inside the cage this time and there's no way I can check out what's happening without disturbing them. There has been a great deal of shuffling around in their nest box during the whole building process that has me a little concerned. I should hear some begging from the chicks in the next day or two right?

How exciting! My newly acquired Gouldian pair, apparently, had "relations" the day before I brought them home on Wednesday. They were pretty disturbed with the whole moving process but yesterday, he started adding to the nest again and she keeps looking in to see how he's doing. Hope you hear begging babies really soon!!

Thanks guys! Yes definitely babies! I don't know how many yet I'll have to wait until they fledged to find out. It's The Sweetest Sound though to hear them begging for food. :D
