When does the chirping slow down :)
Our first chick ever is a hand fed Owl Finch fledgling that is 4 weeks old today. We were curious as to when the non-stop chirping when we are in the room with him slows down, if ever
You would think it would tire him out.

Once he is completely weaned, it should slow down. When they are still being fed, they will beg constantly, even when they aren't hungry!

Thanks Sally. I was starting to wonder. Although he has not shown any interest in egg food, spray millet, or miracle meal. He doesn't even try to peck at it in my hand like he did 3-4 days ago. I hope it doesn't take him more than a week or two more before he at least starts to try something on his own. He is really quite hungry when he is fed. We are feeding about every 3 hours during the day now. He is getting stronger. He flies a little further when we put him down and two days ago he started to do the "adult" hopping on the floor, fully extending his legs like adult birds do and hopping with authority!Sally wrote: Once he is completely weaned, it should slow down. a_gouldian, awww!! You guys are such good "parents".
I am on call with hand feeding (oh dear God, don't tell my husband....LOL) because I am dealing with eggs. 6 society eggs (I'm sure they'll be fine), and 3 Java eggs. The Javas are new parents but are sitting *almost* tight on 3 eggs. It's hot here though. Mid 90's during the day and high 70's/low 80's at night. Not so worried about any eggs getting cold if a bird steps off for a few.
Your little fledge is so super cute! I'm sure *he* is a handful but what an amazing feeling it must be.
