Hello friends, my pair of diamond fire tail have laid eggs and the female alone is incubating the eggs, and the problem is she keeps chasing the male and she keeps on fighting with the male and the male sits scared in the bottom of cage, would this quarrelling be problem when the chicks hatch, can the female alone can take care of the chicks any suggestions is appreciated thank you

Yes mate I'd separate them, hen finches are quite capable of rearing youngsters on there own,

If you continue to leave the cock bird in with her yer taking a risk,

Firstly the cock could get injured and secondly the hen is not gonna be incubating properly because she's continuesly gonna be agitated

i tried separating the male from her but she keeps calling him and she is not incubating also

It's a very awkward situation when it's like this, try putting em back together again but watch em closely,

Allow for a bit of general bickering as you do sometimes get this with some breeding pairs at the start,

If you really think that it's looking to violent then you'll have to separate em again,

If the hen decides to incubate then all well and good, if not then sadly there ain't a lot you can do unless you've got a few pairs of bengalese ( society finches ) as foster parents

Thank you Stuart whiting i have put them together and taken out the nest box and let settle down. but the chasing continues i will wait for sometime and hope they settle down well
