flymouse The only way to be sure of the weight of a particular finch is to weigh it yourself. You can buy small digital scales in the food or household sections of stores. You want one that measures grams as well as ounces, like this one:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Etekcity-Digi ... r/46522394

To weigh a finch, get one of those extra small pet carriers, like this one:

http://www.petsmart.com/supplies/travel ... er+carrier

You set the empty carrier on your scale and reset it to zero. Then you put the bird in the carrier, and the scale will tell you how many grams your bird weighs.

Then get a 1ml syringe from the drugstore. It will be marked in tenths of a ml, so .1, .2, and so on. If your Society weighs around 20 grams, then give it .2 ml of the Medistatin solution.
3 Purple Grenadiers, 1 Goldbreast + 1 cat.

what are the mixing direction on the container..... baby gouldian...first day one drop 3 to 4 times a day after that twice a day, morning and evening, if handfeeding continue the twice a day until weaned.

Once you mix the medistatin it needs to be kept in a dark bottle in a dark cabinet... very light sensitive and breaks down fast.

sorry i took so long to reply but the container says:

Dosage and Administration:
Avian: Mix 5g with 500g of soft food for 5-7 days.

Hand Reared Chicks
Prevention: Mix 1g per 200g of soft food daily for as long as symptoms prevail.
Treatment: Mix 1g per 20ml of water, shake well and dose 1ml of mixture per 100g bodyweight twice daily.

Baby GF is 18 days old today 9/23/16. should i do the Treatment?? Mix 1g per 20ml of water and like you said above: first day one drop 3 to 4 times a day after that twice a day, morning and evening, if handfeeding continue the twice a day until weaned?? or does this now change ?

Thanks

let the crop empty dose with medistatin before feeding...first day get the 3 to 4 drops in (a drop per feeding), second day until finished weaning two drops per fay...one in the a.m., one in the p.m. Treating weaned is twice a day.

Store extra of the mix in a colored bottle or wrapped bottle in a dark cabinet do not keep in the fridge.

To make sure this is what im understanding,

First day of starting treatment:
1 let crop empty
2 add 1 drop of medistatin (Treatment: Mix 1g per 20ml of water) to formula per feeding
3 do this 3-4 times a day on first day only?
is this correct???

i hope this works [-o< , if it doesn't i do have Ronivet 12% and trimsulfa. i would just need the dosage and administration instructions for both as well.

Thanks for your help i really appreciate it Cindy :)

correction to above you do not add it to the formula, you beak dose it to the bird before you feed the formula....the crop needs to be empty, drop in the medistatin then feed formula.

first day get in a least 3 to 4 treatments of medistatin, second day you treat in the morning and at dinner.
