My first Pied zebra finch baby! (I think! :D)

Post by Memsie » Mon Nov 28, 2016 11:16 pm

So I think I have my first Pied (Possibly Black cheek pied -crosses fingers-) chick! :D
Mama Mona Lisa is a Normal Grey with splits to Black cheek and Pied and Daddy Sassafras is a Black cheek split to pied.

This is their first clutch together (Mona has had 2 previous clutches with her last mate (rip) Sass is a new dad!

Check out these cuties!

8 days old and you can see the white pin feathers coming in on the top baby. I can't wait to see the fledged color!

Holy crow, but they are WELL FED!
They look ready to burst, lol.

Can't help you with what mutations they might or might not be, for that you need Cindy.

What I can say, is that they are really cute and fuzzy :D
Do they ever get a chance to beg, or are Mom and Dad right there, ready to stuff them as soon as they open their mouths?

Thanks Elana!

They are definitely attentive parents! LOL. I worry that they overfeed them sometimes. Poor lil buggers can hardly move their heads, but it's been the same with past clutches and I've never lost a chick.

I've noticed the babies are much bigger than past babies which is interesting. I'll keep updating photos as they get older. They are just starting to get vocal with begging and boy does the little pied have a set of lungs!

Hi Emili,

Those tiny piggies still feel the need to beg, lol. They look like overstuffed little turkeys, it's no wonder they are big.

Would love to see pictures of them as they grow up.
Baby Zebras, are adorable, and so so sweet before they learn to be afraid of us giant humans :D

hi
one is pied for sure =D> , for the BC factor you have to wait ,you can check if there is a BC starting from the second week of age
basicly you must have 50% bc and 50% /bc

Thanks haroun!!

I got a good picture of the face of the pied today. She/he has some really neat patches of white on it's head and it's wings are almost perfectly symmetrically marked. Thankfully the cheeks are pretty free of white so I should be able to see cheek patches.

The other baby I think will be either be BC or Grey I don't see any white on it.

This is exciting!
