Gouldians Eye

Post by lnlovesorange » Mon Apr 11, 2016 12:35 pm

Hi guys, noticed one of my new girls eyes yesterday she shuts it A LOT, and it's just the right one.... I can't see anything wrong, but wondering if this rings any bells to anyone... She's currently being treated for Mites (I topically treated her, actually she is due for 2nd topical treatement) Could I have gotten it in her eye and caused her blindness? I don't think I went anywhere near her eye.... The medicine calls for it on the thigh..... I put some pics so you can see it, and in the middle one you can see the other eye is WIDE open, she almost treats this eye like she is falling asleep (which is what I thought at first then I realized that the other eye was WIDE open and she was awake.... Never saw this before guys.... Thanks!

Is there any discharge or wetness?
There is an illness called the one eye cold. Maybe you can look it up and see if the symptoms match.

Good luck

Poor baby, that doesn't look very comfortable.
I have never seen anything like that before, so I can't offer any input about it.

Sending get well soon wishes.

Babs Unfortunately no. I never found out... I had some trials over the summer, and wasn't home a lot. My mom went in one day (to the birds room) to sweep up, and found this poor beauty.... So I don't know if she had something that eventually took her life, or unfortunatley, my 3 yr old niece likes to go into that room, and I think she was not being supervised as well as she should have... and went in with a net, i don't know about you guys but my Babies KNOW what a net is, and if they even see it they start freaking out ... so if she was in there with the net, waving it around... she may have died of a heart attack or flying into something, again I don't KNOW if this ihappened, but it's a possibility. But this poor girl ? (stil never found out the sex, but I never heard her sing, so I call her "her") was never right...but although short, I know she had a good life, so I find some solace in that.

Yep my birds flip out when they seen the net as well. They've all been caught by it at one time or another. Kids love butterfly nets, so you may be right.

Except for Hammy. She's fine with just sitting on my finger for transport, so while they are flailing around she's like "what is your problem?"
