Help now... anyone?

Post by lnlovesorange » Tue Jan 24, 2017 8:21 pm

Lucy my Society hen, all fluffed up, not herself, and doing this weird head twitch, thing.... see video. Any ideas? I can't get the video to load but it's from about her crop up she keeps bobbing her head two to three times and it happens every minute or so and I think it looks like it there is swelling near the crop or the crop itself but it's hard to tell it could just be the feathers fluff

Oh honey, I'm so sorry.
I didn't even see your post until right now.

Could she have eaten something that stuck in her throat and wouldn' go down?

So sorry you lost Lucy. I have no idea what could have gone wrong, but often with finches, we don't know.

I don't know why it wouldn't let me share the video... Strange, but at the end she was blowing bubbles out of her mouth, and then she spit up a little milky clear fluid.... (that's when I knew she was done for) she fell over, and struggled a little bit... Poor little thing... But she's not hurting anymore, but I am trying to find out what it could have been, as you know I have an entire flock to worry about.... Of course now my mom, wakes me up this morning saying that one of the zebs looks fluffed.... so i run in there, and she's like no i guess he was just sleeping... (she is now on high alert) I feel like had I paid closer attention i may have caught what was wrong with Lucy in time, and been able to treat her... It's just that stupid stage of death, "Guilt" anyway, thank you everyone for your kind words, anyone ever hear of that bubbles, and spitting up, and the head bobbing back and forth, almost lke twitching in 1 2 3 forward, every minute or so.... I gave her calcium as soon as I found her thinking she was egg bound, and put her under a heat lamp, but that did nothing, but I'm wondering if that's what it may have been and I just didn't find her in time....

Hi Ellen,

I downloaded some information sites about bird diseases and illneses, in a thread by that name. Maybe you'll be able to find some ideas as to what went wrong in these articles.
