Cordon Bleus have fledged (pics)

Post by a_gouldian » Thu Feb 16, 2017 3:31 pm

Our three Cordon Bleu chicks have fledged. The head pin feathers on two of them have not completely unfurled yet. I think maybe the smaller one hatched a day or two later then the other two. They are extremely cute. In a few days after their head feathers are unfurled I will post a few more pics.

a_gouldian - Andy, thanks for posting those pictures. I love your little guys! Maybe, one day, I will have some, too (if I can ever find a female for my lonely guy).
I remember reading you can tell males and females apart right from the time that they fledge. If that is true it looks to me like you have two boys and a girl.
Good luck with them.
Iso

PS: Did they need tons of live food, eat any egg food?

We did not use live food because they were fostered by Societies. We did provided plenty of egg food and sprouted seed. With the parent pair we use mini-meal worms but so far they have been tossing chicks.

I was thinking that we have 2 males and a female also. Should now for sure in 2-3 months.

Very awesome congrats. you hear stories very often of cordon bleu chicks being raised, even by societies. I hope the success keeps going for you and you get many many babies.

Just had to look at those babies again, lol (just too darn cute).

Are they RC, or Blue capped?

Here is another pic I took today. They are very sweet and calm. When I change out the food they just sit on whatever perch they are on and calmly watch me.
