A silver gouldian! Or so I thought....
So I bred gouldians seriously for the first time this year. All the young are molting now. I had one bird that came from a pair that was DF yellow back split to blue male (YH,PB) and the female is GB split to blue (BH.WB). This chick was light gray and definitely looked very different than all his yellow and green siblings. I had a picture of him when he fledged and deleted it about a two weeks ago (of course). Anyways, I went in there about a week ago and noticed he has bright yellow feathers on his belly coming in. Any idea what mutation he is? Are there any silver varieties that have yellow on them? When I looked on the genetics forecaster I couldn't come up with anything. I'm stumped. Here is a picture of him singing away.

Pastel Blue males AKA "silver" is a gouldian with 2 Pastel genes and 2 Blue genes.
In order to get a male Pastel Blue you would need the hen to have a pastel (yellow) gene. The best you can do with this pair as far as a white bodied bird is a RedHead split to YellowHead.PurpleBreast split to WhiteBreast.Pastel Blue hen.
Gouldians with the Blue gene will have the white belly feathers. The yellow belly indicates that it is either a SingleFactor Pastel male or a Pastel hen. I can't seem to enlarge the picture you posted but the belly feathers look dark like a male on my computer.
Cute chick, best of luck

Re: A silver gouldian! Or so I thought....
It's definitely a boy, he was singing away. His belly is definitely a bright yellow, just like my yellow males.
He is kind of an oddball, I ended up hand feeding him some because he wasn't getting enough outside the nest. He can fly fine but seems content to sit on the floor most of the time unless hes getting food or water (he's not sick it's just where he seems to like it). I might just keep him, he has quite the personality.
Noticed this morning he looks like he might have a lilac breast too. Do you have a picture of what a sf pastel male with a yellow belly might look like? Are the fledglings normally very light grey instead of the typically colored blue and yellow fledglings? I'm fascinated....

I don't have a picture of Mom and Dad. They are molting now so they are not very pretty. I'll see if I can get one and post it along with an update once he's colored up
