Back in the hobby
After almost 2 years of not having finches I'm back!
About two years ago we (my husband, kids, & myself) had to move in with my parents after we bought a house that had to be severely renovated before we could move in. My parents unfortunately wouldn't let me bring my birds, so I had to sell all my birds (50 finches, 2 parakeets, & 2 lovebirds). I have missed my birds very much and thought about them almost everyday for those 2 years. I am now where I can start keeping, breeding, & raising birds again. And so yesterday I went out and got, my first of many to come, pair of finches. I would like to introduce everyone to Link and Zelda, the zebra finches.

Congratulations!!!
And welcome back to the Fold, lol.
If that is a bird protector hanging on your cage, I'd remove it mighty quick if I were you.

Re: Back in the hobby
Thank you lovezebs for the link. I have since removed the bird protector. I used to use these on my cages when I first had finches and thankfully never lost any. With this new information on the protectors I'm not going to be taking any chances. I'm also going to be passing on the info. to my Aunt who uses them on her parakeet cages. Thanks you again.lovezebs wrote: FallenIce

congrats on the little cuties. I can't believe there is one piece of junk that I don't currently have in my bird box. How did I miss shelling out cash for the bird protector?

You must be very excited to be able to get back into bird keeping. That must have been a long two years.
Link and Zelda are very pretty Zebras

Re: Back in the hobby
The zebras are doing good. They have recently built a nest and are going to be laying eggs soon. So excited! And yes it was a long two years. I recently added to my little flock. Got a pair of society finches, a male and female. I named the male Elvis and the female Priscilla. I'm going to be getting more societies soon. And my oldest daughter has also gotten into bird keeping. We got her two parakeets to start with, we don't know their gender though as they are still young. I can't wait for my zebras to start laying.

Congratulations on the Societies.
As in regards to breeding, Zebras being Zebras, they shouldn't keep you waiting too long, lol.
