Babies have grown, two males evident.

Post by FinchGrinch » Tue Mar 21, 2017 8:13 pm

Just an update on my 4 little babies who have grown quite a bit. Two males have emerged and sing their hearts out. Although their little songs aren't quite developed its interesting to hear them improve every day. Whats more is that they have completely different songs.

Here is Peanut, he seems to be everyone's favorite, he has a kind of raspy song but its coming along.

Next up is Fudge, he has a beautiful song and it just gets better every day.

Hes in the center of this pic.

Here's a shot of all four, sorry the pic is not all that great.

From Left to right, Coconut, Walnut, Fudge, ( all babies) Cocoa on the back branch (He's Their Dad) and Peanut (baby) BTW that's Q-tip on the far right, top ( my newest acquired adult)

Coconut and Walnut are both the younger of the four and so far do not sing. Im pretty sure they will be females but who knows. Its been fun watching then grow.

They are beautiful birdlings John.

Boy Socies, usually learn their songs from their fathers, so it's odd that these two little brothers have different songs.

It sounds that you're really enjoy these kids

There are 2 other adult males in the cage in addition to dad so maybe they are learning from them as well? One is the brother of the Dad but the other is not related at all. And yes I enjoy them quite a bit :) Thank you!

It wonderful that you are enjoying your lovely societies so much in the Cozy aviary you made-over for them. Would be lovely if Q-tip and your fawn boy hit it off. But I fancy the lighter colored societies the most.

Heck I love them all.

With the height of your little aviary, it would fun to toss some tommy hay on the floor and give them something to drop it into on the top. The long journey upwards and back down with stalks (sometimes dropping them and having to go back), and the friendly competition of the males over the stalks to and from their destination, would be great to watch. Such antics! :O)

Well they have managed to pluck a branch off of the fake plant and it falls to the floor quite often.. LOL It is a fun thing to watch. They think they know what they are going to do with it once they get it to the top, but then it just falls back down and the race starts again.
