You know you're bird obsessed when

Post by MisterGribs » Wed May 03, 2017 7:55 am

When you go into the bathroom and notice that the seeds you wash of your feet every day are now 5cm sprouts growing out of the shower drain... :shock:

You eat the same raw diet as they do, mealworms included.

You walk out of the house with a half eaten millet sprig stuck to your clothes.

Or, U have a drain guard in your shower to prevent the seeds from growing a forest in your drain. And, I must know, do U eat those worms raw? or do U cook them? Not sure I could bring myself to do it without the zombie epocalypse.

You know your a nut 8-} , when your dragging home branches longer than you're tall, because someone cut back their trees, and these branches would be just perfect for your future free flight bird room.

Boy did I get some funny looks from people driving by, with my little Safeway bag, and half a tree dragging behind me as I trudged homeward... :shock: :shock: :shock:

But you know what?
I've learned to ignore the looks, keeping my eyes straight ahead, trying to appear as normal as I possibly can... buahh hah haahhhh.

When I had my bird room and later my aviary I often went out branch collecting with a pair of clippers and then carried my prizes back from the beach or the park, getting some funny looks most likely. Indeed, last winter I found a young tree about eight feet tall but just two feet wide, which fell over in the park and dragged it home, roots and all. Sawed off the roots, then mounted it in my aviary. It was a great find.

Wow, that was a great find... heck I would have kept the roots too... :-J

In fact I know where there is a dead tree (if it's still there). Might have to borrow my son with his truck to go and kick it down, lol.

Oh jeez, #-o I rest my case... 8-} 8-} 8-}

Talking to your birds is normal and nothing to worry about.

It's when you talk about birds and show off pictures to anyone who will listen, and even to those who don't want to listen, that it becomes an issue.

I've had people run away from me, suddenly remembering somewhere they just have to be (anywhere away from me) when the 4 letter B word pops up, lol.

Bringing home branches is one thing, but deliberately searching for ones with termites... :lol:
