A Real Surprise

Post by lovezebs » Sat Jun 10, 2017 9:54 pm

Hello Fellow Finch Fans,

To all of you who followed the story of Max and Kelsey ....http://www.finchforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=34925,
there is an interesting follow up.

Max and Kelsey did appear to bond to some degree and spend time together. Kelsie however, was forever laying empty eggs and really wanted to be a Mama bird.

Well, when a very handsome Chocolate Self Socie gent came our way, little Kelsey was smitten, poor girl.

Seeing as she is somewhat handicapped, I really didn't think that it would be a good idea to pair them up, but some powers had other plans.

When the dark handsome Socie came home with me, so did a sweet Zebra with a crippled foot, who is older and can't fly very well.

It seemed like a perfect companion for Max, but what then to do with Kelsie who sat down and laid yet another empty egg?

The thought popped into my mind, and an extra cage was found and furnished, and before I knew it there they were together at last <3 <3 <3 .

They took to their nest very quickly, but I thought nothing of it until today when I was cleaning their cage. For once Kelsie was out of the nest, and guess what?

Two lovely chubby very well fed Chocolate self babies met my eyes =D> =D> =D> and not brand new either.

Those two darling birds must have kept their secret for what must be close to two weeks.

Pictures to follow.

Oh boy! Lotsa babies! I knew Kelsey was going to make a good mother! Those babies are going to be gorgeous.

Now the day they are weaned you can expect Bubba to knock on the door. Just hand him those two beauties right there on the front porch. Oh and hand him a sandwich too or he will just walk in and track mud everywhere. #-o

Thank you very much, in advance.

Babs

Ha haa hahhh......

I think they will be pretty babies.
Dad is very handsome, and Kelsey, is a very pretty girl in her own right. I really hope that they get Dad's lovely chest scale pattern.

They are being good parents. Those infants look about ready to burst, lol.

As for Bubba...... uhem....he would have to deal with Smooshy face  who is the size of a small pony at 10 months old.

Kelsey hardly ever lifts her bum out of that nest, so taking a picture can be difficult, but not impossible, lol.

Sally

Thanks Sally,

Both parents and babies have been so quiet, that it REALLY surprised me to see these two chubby babies in that nest, lol.

Well, here they are, and it would appear, that there are more than just two, although the pictures are not very clear.

What a surprise! Not just two, but three more to hatch! I don't see colors like the parents around here. Very nice birds. Good luck with the babies.

wildbird sparrowsong98

Thank you.

I don't think those other eggs will hatch, seeing as these kids are already a bit older, but then again who knows #-o

Darkwing, in particular is a very handsome bird and has those beautiful scales on his chest, which I hope the kids will inherit.

We don't see a lot of these birds around here either, mostly brown and white pied, the ocassional white, and some fawns and fawn pied birdies.
