quarenteen/bird room

Time to build a quarenteen area,bird room.currently the bird area is in the shed on the right.Will be able to walk through shed into bird room and into bird room from front of picture.

Poured slab a few months back had to replumb storm water and mains to tanks.

Making up material list and getting cost now,will be finished in a few months i hope.

will have work bench,sink,fridge and freezer areas.plus plenty of room for storage etc..

Any suggestions for musts for bird rooms?

I am so envious of the room you have to set up all those great aviaries.

Do your finches like to watch the television (constant replays of finch videos)?

Would be my only suggestion. You already thought of everything else.

Wow - you're "shed" on the right looks HUGE! How big is it? Do you have it separated inside for different rooms? That's terrific! The only other thing I can think of (and you probably have it incorporated already) is in your storage area - shelving, lots of shelving or cabinets with shelves inside.

I would say to not have drain line between main aviaries and hospital/quarentine cage connect unless by a small seal leg. Otherwise, you risk back up of fluid from one area to the other.

This is kind of extreme, but it seems you are going the distance, so something to consider for ultimate health safety...

only thing I can come up with would be a couple of those heat extractors that you put on the roof peak to help with keeping the heat down.

ditto what mick said about the whirlybird roof vent. I would also add insluation to both the roof and whatever wall cops the most afternoon sun. In the recent heat wave we had, I lost several birds. All those lost were in cages against the western wall.

chris the bird room bottom level will be concrete as is.the pitch off the shed roof will continue as is and i will build a wall on existing avairy,the cages at the front will be the same height as existing with a floor on top for storage.
Liz the shed beside is 6.5mx12mx3m h,with proper factory shelving in one quarter,wood and metal work area in one qaurter,and open in the middle for working on projects.
feather the dog is my best mate bogan hes like one of my children to me.
fry the sink will be at the back wall (at back of photo)with drain running out wall to padock.
Matt and Mick have thought about whirly birds,The wall i am building up on the existing avairy to the height of existing pitch of shed roof,was thinking about puting a couple of windows there.along with windows of sort on front to be open all summer.Does not get hot enough here for insulation. get at most three to four days over forty a year.I am only a km or two from the sea.so no frosts here either.
