Food Placement

Post by Zebra_Finches2 » Mon Aug 07, 2017 5:34 pm

So my two Zebra finches, Daphne and Darwin, have decided to build a nest in their food dish despite the fact there is a designated nesting area. They usually sleep in the dish every night anyway and so they decided to line it with papers and feathers. Now I don't have an issue with this except for the fact that I don't want to disturb their best by filling it with food, does anyone have ideas of where I can place food while they have their best set up there?

Zebra_Finches2 when I had my society in a flight cage they always were looking to nest, but I wanted no babies so always tried different ways of stoping them from nesting.I had to keep all open dishes at the very bottom of there cage and it did stop them, but I eventually put hanging feeders in there flight cages. It was easier to keep seed clean for me.

Zebra_Finches2

Just put up another seed dish on the oposite side of the cage and fill it with seeds.

you can introduce an new dish and a seed hopper.... keep the seed cup in the cage until they get use to the seed hopper.
