Hanging nesting material?

I am extending my aviary and I am covering over an entire section that is currently exposed to the weather etc. I want to hang a metal rod in this covered section and hang a whole lot of branches and nesting material to provide more nesting spots. I have seen a few photos of this however I want to know what type of branches would be best to hang and wrap around the metal rod???

Ones that preferably dont lose all their leaves quickly when they die???

Also what plants grow well in an aviary with a river sand base?

Any ideas or advice would be greatly apreciated.

Tea tree goes well mine lasts about two years.i have native grasses planted in coarse river sand.
