Suggestions for room conversion

Well, I upgraded the light fixture from a two bulb to a 4 bulb fixture. Much brighter now. I put a male shaft tail in and he is very happy. He doesn't yet trust the quails, though. The button quail are doing great. I gave them crickets last night and they were hilarious the way they hunt them down. The males catch a cricket, then offer it to a hen.

The nicest thing about this room is that I can sit inside of it.

its great that you can sit inside and watch them,i love to sit in my aviary and watch all the birds its not the same as watching them in a cage

sitting in the aviary eh? Do you bring an umbrella or just wear clothes you don't mind getting poopy lol

you are only jelous because my quail take food out of my hands..and if i go in with a dandelion leaf all the canaries land on your fingers to eat it

lol you're darn tootin' I'm jealous! I'd never be allowed to have an aviary I could actually fit in! let alone be able to sit and feed my birds by hand! That's so wonderful that they trust you enough to do that. Seriously though, you must get pooped on pretty often lol, I have a friend whose cockatiel "likes" me, in other words she likes my hair, so she sits on my head and, well, you know...

vetbridge, your bird room turned out well! Are you planning on adding more birds soon? I wish I had a place I could set up a large aviary that I could keep finches in all the time. I always enjoy going out to my doves and standing in there pen with them. They will land on your arm or hand when you have food. I would love to be able to have something like that with finches!

i sit near to the exit door where there are no perches so i am sat in a bare space..if they land on you of course you get pooped on but i have been pooped on by worse things than my birds and the quail only poop on the floor so i am usually poop free when i come out of there...wow what a lot of poops

More birds will be added asap. I have two shaft tail hens coming as soon as the weather warms a little. When I sit in the room I put my chair in a poop free zone, away from perches/etc.

thats exactly what i do.if you get some of the quails favourite food and hold it out long enough they will come and take it from your hands try mealworms, the male takes them and gives them straight to the females

I may be adding a pair of European Goldfinches later today. I am going to a breeder's home to see his birds tonight.

Last night I gave the quail some crickets. They were so excited that they chased them all around, even over my feet.

Ken- They are indeed cute. I do not think mine are interested in incubating eggs, tho. They are laying them but not incubating. Here is a pic of the eggs:

My male shaft tail is getting along great with the goldfinches. And his hen should arrive in the next week or so if the weather improves.
