First of all, you have to check if the airline allows them in the cabin. You wouldn't want a nasty surprise when your cousin is stopped at the gate .

How long is the flight?

Whenever I have to travel with birds ( car, bus, etc.) I always supply them with some seed in a small cup, a small amount of water in a small plastic water tube that I attach firmly to the side of the travel cage, and slices of cucumber, in case the water spills, and some spray millet.

I place a thick layer of paper towels on the bottom of the cage, and supply them with a perch, to get them off the floor in case of spilage and for their comfort.

Thank you. They are only flying from Kelowna to Calgary. My cousin works for Westjet so i assume she would know to check but I will make sure. What kind of carrier do you use and would they be okay in a small box that I could give to her to put into the carrier so they aren't moved twice?

I use a small travel cage, which I place inside of a fabric shopping bag, making it easier to carry.
