Gouldians Stormy & Easy's Eggs pipping clearly, see it begin
I opened the nest at just the right time this morning. Looks like we are going to have babies today!! At least 4 eggs are pipping. Can you spot them?
Some may remember Easy had a yellowback male who tossed her chicks and she didnt accept him back.
She raised the clutch on her own (she's an amazing hen).
Well she took right away to Stormy and together they laid 6 viable eggs. I'm hoping all of them hatch!

Keeping my fingers, toes and eyes crossed over here
in the hope that all hatch safely
.
Let us know the good news, I'll hand out spray millet instead of cigars.

I'm going to check in a few hours and see what's up in there ;) I love this part, it never gets old.

Thanks! I just checked and 3 of them are crashing and bashing dents all over the tops of the eggs, so it shouldnt be too long.

I'm about to do lights out so I got a quick shot after work. I was surprised to see the parents had turned the eggs with the most pip damage on the down side. And I'm not going to dare to flip them over in mid-pipping.
I can only speculate, to make the air bubble on top where the chick will do it's last cut out of the shell. Just guessing.
The egg on the top......that is not poop. That is leakage from inside the egg drying on the outside of the incision. When I zoom in with my phone I can see clearly clear wet fluid forming on at the cut point.
And some know I have experience, and I HAD weird obsession with the eggs and hatching...but let's not go there (lets just say incubators are BAD for finches...dreadful for humans to indulge in and have disappointing and awful hatch rates). I'm just grateful the parents are tolerating my 2 second long intrusions 3 times today for these pictures. Both parents are now sitting together for the first time. That to me, means something is up.
Looks like as nature intended, they are resting until things are dark and quiet and will hatch during the night, probably shortly before dawn, probably listening to their parent's vocalizations (thats my theory).
** Edit** I did look at the picture again and all eggs are now placed in this photo for the air-sac to be properly positioned** WOW! They know exactly what they are doing! Big difference from the pic this morning with and egg on top of others.
Mom and dad know best. Im anxious to see who makes it out of the shell.

Sending warm and encouraging thoughts to those infants, as they work hard overnight to pop out and face the world tomorrow

A little worried. No chicks this morning. We just recently had to turn the heat on, so I am hoping the humidity change didnt effect them.
Im not holding much hope for the one that had a little fluid coming out of it.

I spoke too soon. I got nosy and took another look on break, and caught one that had just hatched that moment.. I saw him pop the top off! Woot!
