Hour glass shape tail?

Post by Flight Feathers » Tue Jan 09, 2018 9:12 pm

Here is one my friends gorgeous fawn pied finch she bred herself. I was taking some photos of it today when I suddenly noticed the "hour glass" shape of her finches tail. I have never seen any finches with a tail like this- What does this mean?

As you can see, the cheek patch kind of gets fainter.

Flight Feathers Hi
In the first pics i don't see any hour glass shape, can u take and uploadnew pic of the tail more colser ?!
Hour glass shape mean that the bird is split for Black Breast mutation , another sign wich i can partial is the thin tear drop.
The bird is pied fawn male with lot orange lacing in the back and wing. We more closer eed tail bars and front pics
An old post http://www.finchforum.com/viewtopic.php ... 7&start=15

And this one is identic to ur bird except it is not a pied

haroun thanks, I thought hour glass was the shape of the tail but turns out its the tail bars, so it doesn't have hour glass spots. Yes it is odd how it has orange lacing on its wings and how the cheek patch fades. Also it has a thin tear line and the flank spots change Color half way.
Does the shape of the tail have anything to do with it also? What do you think it is split to?

You can't see the colors very well in this pic but you can see the cheek patch and thin tear line.
