gouldian sexing

Post by gunard62 » Sun Feb 26, 2017 1:20 pm

Hello. I've posted pics of my males. I was told they were females but I'm thinking they are males. They are the green backs. Also, I'm looking for a female to breed with my YB/LB male as pictured...any ideas for an interesting mix and does anyone out there have a female for sale. thanks. Don

I initially would have guessed female because their chest is more of a lilac color. However, after some quick research, I agree with you and am leaning towards male because of the bright blue band behind the black mask and the belly looks very vibrantly yellow. I read that males can have a mutation causing a lilac chest. Here is my source: http://www.pamperedpeeps.com/sexinggoulds.htm
You have beautiful goldies.

My guess (and I stress "guess") would be a lilac breast male (?) but lets tag debbie276 for this one.
