Donna - have you tried putting it into a food processor?dfcauley wrote: I have found that my birds will not eat carrots. They hardly touch broccoli. But they love green leafy lettuch and romaine lettuce. I have them some collards from the garden, but not much.
The first time I got my birds to eat broccoli was by sprinkling chopped florets on top of their seed.
When they started eating that, I decided I would try a food processor (easier, less time consuming than hand chopping!), and I tried mixing in some other vegetables too and it worked like a charm.
As Bill Niven (Morning Bird) would say, if a bird doesn't eat something (even if it's good for them) it's most often because the bird does not recognize it as food. Sometimes you have to teach them to recognize items as food, however you find the best method, is up to you to be creative! lol
I've tried Laraine's mix but it's really expensive /lb (combined with expensive shipping to the northeast) and I'm not a huge fan that it is basically only white millet and canary seed.
