I think it is a male/female pair. The hen is on the left, and you can see that the blue on her upper breast is broken up with brown, plus it looks like on the top of her head (which I can't see very well), she has brown mixed in with the blue, plus her blue is not as deep. If the one on the left is a juvenile, then it could be a male, as juvie males look much like hens. Do you have any history on them, summer?
I'm going to move this thread to the Species category.
3 Purple Grenadiers, 1 Goldbreast + 1 cat.

i think they are a pair, like your said the hen is on the left and the male on right. i got them from a pet store here in des moines, ia. I am unsure of any history on them. But they both looks like mature adults. i was just feeding them and sat in my bird room for a few mins to ensure they are settle in alright.

well, i saw the male courting the female. **got a string in his and keeps jumping up and down.** it was soo cute! i put a nest in there as well, and they kept going in the nest and out. if all is good, i think they are ready to breed. my fingers are crossed.

Thanks Bcamp & CandoAviary!
They love their new home. :=) they had already start nesting. Which is so quick because I just got them. But I think they bonded at the pet store, where they were the only two cordon bleus in the cage beside the societies. Anyways, they're wonderful and I hope they breed well for me.

Such lovely birds!
I have seen some in my local Pet Store but the price is pretty hefty for a pair. If I can find a breeder I might consider getting a pair myself. After learning about them they seem like a wonderful Finch to own.

Wow - glad I could inspire you and I wish you the best of luck in breeding them. The ones on my website are my daughters' BCCB's and she is breeding them at this time, I believe.
