Gouldian with air sac mites

Post by Leigh » Sun Mar 22, 2009 10:41 pm

Hi all,
Just a quick question, i have a female gouldian that is displaying symptoms of air sac and can't get hold of SCATT or S76 because i live in Western Australia. I have been told to use Ivermectin to treat her and was just wondering if anyone has heard of Eprinomectin as i have some of that but im not going to use it unless i no its safe.
Any help greatly appreciated
Thanks

Sorry, never heard of the later, but many people here use the Ivermectin. Do you have that?

I can't get anything over here without going to the vet and to do that i have to take all the birds i want treated to the vet and they put the ivermectin on them for me, its a restricted medication over here and you cant buy it without a license.
Looks like a trip to the vet.

Anyone else from Western Australia on here that has had the same problem??

Thanks

We have quite a few Australian forum members, so maybe someone will be on soon to help you. Availability of medications is always different from one country to the next, so you need to find out what you can use there.

Leigh, look under the Resources section, there is a thread for an Aussie finch forum. Members there would be able to point you to medicines that are available in your area.

Don't mean to revive such an old thread but I have found articles online with eprinomectin used on air sac mites.
