I've been too sick to do much, but finally got the inside wood frame painted, added the masonite to the bottom (under the tray which is lined with kraft paper) to keep birds in when the tray is out for cleaning.
Then I did a dry fit of the outside (unpainted) trim, which I'll be attaching the hinges/door to when I feel better.
Will try to get the door on and get it painted this weekend. The GBs are not getting back to business, so once I get the perches and ivy in this cage, it may be used for a pair of Gouldians. I've been talking to a local breeder who has a male ready to go in a couple of months. He's BH, PB/WB, NB. I was hoping to get a WB male, and either a WB female or PB/WB female, since some recommend it's better to breed split to WB to WB rather than WB to WB.
This breeder says the male is also split to BB, and later this summer she should have a female WB also split to BB. So I'm just not sure if I want to get the male now, and have to keep him as a single until she has a female that's suitable. I'd feel bad keeping him alone, but I can't really afford to get another just to keep him company, unless its a mutation/color I want. Only two cages... just not enough room!

So I'll just have to decide after the bird mart here on May 3. Someone there may have a female that's suitable so I wouldn't have to keep him alone for long... Can hardly wait!
