Can I ask how you mounted and wired the lighting for the bottom three breeding cages?
I love this design - these are absolutely beautiful.
What size plywood did you use for the sides that aren't the wire?
(Did you get your wire from KW Cages by any chance?)

All the plywood is 1/2'' except the back which is 1/4''. I got the wire from the fleet farm store. It came in a 30'' by 10 ' roll. It's 1/2'' by 1'' 16 gauge wire.The lights came from walmart.They're 18'' under cabinet lights.I put full spectrum bulbs in them. They slide onto two screws.I drilled a hole in the back of each cage for the wire to go out then glued a piece of wood on the back to cover the rest of the hole.I stapled the wire up so the birds can't sit on it.All four cords plug into a 6 plug outlet with a timer on it.

Really nice set up. Wouldn't the plastic bulb cover defeat the purpose of full spectrum lighting? Coud the same hardware wire be bent and used as a protector/cover to allow better light flow?
I mount my light above the wire. Maybe people building this style cabinet could plan on a slot above each cage that a slender lighting fixture could slide in (slim line aquarium stips work great and replacement bulbs east to get) That way you would not have to worry about a cover over the bulb or birds(especially if you have chewing hookbills) from gnawing the wire, plastic, etc.
Just an idea.

From what reading I've done about lighting it says that glass will block out uv light but plastic doesn't so thats the reason I left the covers on.It would be fairly easy to put a wire gaurd around them.I also thought about putting in a double floor so I could slide a light between them but I would have needed another sheet of plywood and more wire to make a grate with. I think I need to hire my kids to do my typing for me.I only use 1 finger and it takes forever to find the letters.

Dontcha just love Fleet Farm? That is my Hubby's second home...lol! I get my Parrot and Finch seed there....they are literally half the price of the Pet Store chains.
