Went to the bird mart today and added a new species to my aviary . They aren't in there yet, but will be after their isolation......
My husbands looks at them every time we go and I keep telling him that I heard they are too agressive. I was assured that one pair would do fine in a large aviary. Let's hope so....
okay Dianna, show them what you brought home today!

All the birds look great! Congrats to both of you. I recognize all of yours Dianna, but I'm sorry Donna - I don't know what type yours are. I'll probably know once you tell us.

Sorry...... they are lavender waxbills. They are mostly grey colored with red on their tails. Very pretty little birds.

Nice pair of Lavender's Donna - you should really enjoy them. The male has a nice little song.
Nice looking birds also Dianna - looks like both of you had a super day at the fair. It's always fun to add new birds to the flock.

Thanks Paul!
We got the birds from Floyd. He always has such great birds.
I have wanted lavendars for about a year now, and so I finally did it.
Hope we get to meet with you in July
BTW..... the bird mart at the Farmer's Market which we went to today is horrible..... there were absolutely no vendors there. They had lots of birds, but zero supplies. I will be going to the one at the Trade Center only from now on.

Congrats on all the new birds!! I have wanted Lavenders forever--have not seen them in this area very often, and when I did, they were quite expensive. I believe they have come down in price quite a bit in the last couple of years, but by the time I added shipping, made them expensive again. I also seem to have read somewhere that this species likes fruit more than many of the waxbills--I may be wrong on that, as I have no idea where I read it (if I read it at all--senior memory, you know!), but you might want to see if they will eat some fruit.
I may have to contact Floyd and make up an order with him! Donna, is the mart at the Trade Center the one in Norcross?

Congrats to you both on your new finches

Love them all but am particularly partial to parrot finches

Though I agree with Paul, the lavender's do have a nice song..... Oh aren't they all just grand

Yes, Sally, the one that you are coming to in July is in Norcross It is great and had loads of vendors there. They have tons of supplies and birds. This one yesterday was just pathetic . They had lots of birds but if you needed any supplies you were out of luck and that is what I mostly go for. I really didn't go for birds.
Floyd had quite a few lavenders yesterday. And yes, they have come down in price. I got my pair for 80.00..
They say they will eat oranges. I am going to get some and try it when I put them out into the aviary. I am so hoping that they will teach the others to eat some fruit. They also are suppose to love to bathe and eat mealworms.

Very nice Donna. I was at my local bird store the other day and they had a very nice pair in. Unfortunately out of my price range right now. I beleive my bird store sells them for $150 a pair. \
Very nice Parrot finches Dianna. That Floyd sure seems to have some beautifully colored birds. Donna's Parrots look so vibrant as well.

Lovely birds
I went to a bird fair today and was looking for some parrot finches, but they don't seem common in my area yet. Add to the wish list

1 BCCB, 2 RCCB, 1 Orange-cheek, 1 Red-eared waxbill
