Gouldian Boys Of Summer Are Growing Up!

Thirteen juveniles (male & female) are ready to be sold now and more are and will be colouring up the rest of the summer and through the fall! Here's a few of The Boys -

Gee, I wish we could upload direct from our computers instead of another website (like Photobucket).

Me too.. it takes so much more time having to upload them to a host site first and then paste them into the post...

Beautiful birds Liz. I do not think you will have any problems selling those beauties other than having to let them go.

Thank you! Isn't it funny - the 2 Orange Heads are siblings from the same clutch. One got the white breast and the other got the purple breast! The orange on their heads is brighter than any I've seen on a Gouldian yet.

Why are there different colourations of orange heads? For example here's one I bought... and lost recently. I still can't get over him.

His head was definitely orange but a MUCH deeper orange.

Misty and I were just talking about this last night.

I think that one is called a tangerine orange. I love the bright orange. I had one at one time, but lost it also.

They are all georgeous Liz.

If ever I learn to figure out the gouldians I've got, I will definately be taking down the train to come and see you and pick up a pair. Just have to figure out my 2 first, don't want to go too fast you know.

I guess I'll know for sure what he was when his five chicks colour up. He was paired up with an OH/WB/YB hen and it appears there are 3 dilutes and 2 greens. We'll see... Thanks Tiffany.

It's good to have that outlook, Janine. For me - I couldn't go fast enough!

Believe me I want to go faster, but, I want to make sure that I am doing it right first. To make sure sure that my feathered friends are all happy and healthy. By reading all the posts I discover just how much I have to learn. Like for example, everyone here talks about S79. The only way I can get it here in Quebec is through the vet, and even then I might not get it, because the birds aren't sick yet.

Don't rush yourself... for anything. I believe you meant S76 (for ASM) that others are talking about? That's good for use in drinking water of aviaries. I don't have an aviary but for breeding cages where I can comfortably catch my birds (I need to periodically for nail trimming anyway), I use SCATT which is available quite locally. If you can't find SCATT near you - I can buy and send you a bottle. One lasts a very long time.

But overall yes, this forum is a goldmine of finch information!
