white crested society

I have a white crested society that I need to find a companion for at the bird fair this week-end

Is it alright to get a "self" society or should get a pied or white?

I think she is a hen as she makes the cricket trilling sound alot but not actually a song. She is such a sweet bird and comes to the bars of her cage when I whistle to her.

Unless you have specific mutation chicks (from a breeding) in mind, you will probably be fine getting any color society your heart desires.

I personally really like black grey self's, but they may be a little hard to find.

I don't think I'll ever understand all the different mutations of societies and zebras and all that. Too much stuff to know!

It doesn't help that breeders are constantly developing new mutations and combinations of mutations ;)

But that is what keeps the species extra interesting, for many people.

Just got back from the bird fair

I found a pretty fawn colored male society . I don't think it is a "self" as it doesn't have all the pretty little design on it's belly, but it doesn't have any white like the pieds. Maybe it's a cross. Now my white crested has a cuddle buddy

Their talking to each other, so the nest has to go for right now.

I just missed out on a beautiful pair of cordon blues, so I got ( could't walk away with just one

) a cute pair of owl finches. They are so inquisitive looking. Haven't heard their song yet.

A very good shopping day I think

My owls are so cute,

but I think the lady gave me two females even though she said they were a pair. I played the owls song from another site and they both chirped and sounded like the female, neither sang like the male. When I do that with my other birds the males will take off in full song.

I 'll just have to pick two sweet names for them

My male owls only sing when 1) they are unpaired (you can often stimulate song by separating the two birds temporarily) or 2) they are courting their hen (for mating purposes).

They are about $60-$75 dollars to $150 a pair where I live.

They are such a cute and peaceful little bird.
