Re: Purslane plant
Hmmmmm.....could you give the specific Botanical name as I think there are different types of Purslane. I have heard of a Shrub type and some kinds are also called Pigweed.
Some are on the toxic for Birds list and some sites say give in very small amount....but they just refer to the Purslane plant in general.
So if you could provide more info maybe someone can come up with a good answer for you.

Haven't seen anything for or against, will keep looking.
Re: Purslane plant
OK....Portulaca oleracea is known also as Pigweed.
Here are some links that discuss this plant....it sounds like it can be toxic under certain dry conditions and is also a factor depending on if you feed the seeds, flower of the plant or the plant itself.
I guess you will have to decide for yourself after reading up on it.

(scroll down almost to the bottom where it says "Weeds For Birds" it is under Pigweed)

(whoo boy! This site will give you more than you want to know!)
Have fun with your homework assignment...hehe!

I think that is a wise choice...it sounds like this plant could cause problems more often than not.
