fresh grass seedlings

Post by dfcauley » Thu Jul 16, 2009 2:25 pm

I went out to pick some fresh grass seedling today. The birds went crazy for them. Hopefully they are as good for them as they love them. They all pounced on them.

That is so cute!

I sometimes put some finch or parakeet seed in a dish with soaked wood shavings as growing material and let them sprout and grow til the shoots are about 3 inches high. Then I put the dish in the aviary. My birds love that! (All of them: finches, budgies and button quail).
Walk-in aviary with Waxbills (6 Cordon Bleu, 3 Orange Cheek, 3 Black-rumped, 1 Lavender, ), 1 European Goldfinch, 4 Gouldians, 2 Spice Finches, 6 Owl Finches, 4 Budgies and 2 male Button Quail.
I also have 2 parrotlets, 3 dogs, 1 snake and 3 freshwater fishtanks.
